A music video and fashion film, in which a dancer performs a journey from tribal to contemporary street dance in an atmospheric, empty theatre. Through monochrome silhouettes, shadows and shapes, the choreographed performance grows in violence and intensity, building from primal to visceral krump.
The song and film were inspired by the photo below, taken in 1863, which shows a group of Samurai standing at the foot of the Sphinx. The samurai had been sent on a mission from introverted Japan, to travel around the world and learn from other cultures. The song, by Lalib Thabib, reflects this clash of cultures, combining Japanese Taiko drums with middle-eastern vocal samples. The film's aesthetic, production design and choreography take cues from the starkly contrasting African, Oriental and Middle-Eastern cultures the nomadic Samurai must have experienced on their journey.
